There are few things more devastating for mom and equally exciting for dad as taking your son to the barbershop for the first time. It's almost a rite of passage for ushering them out of infancy and into the big boy years. When it's time to welcome your boy to the barbershop world, here are a few tips to help ensure his visit is fun and memorable.
Make sure the time is right
This first tip doesn't just apply to age, but to the time of day. A fussy, hungry kid is no fun for anyone. Avoid a disastrous first run by making sure he's had his nap and snacks.
Whip out the smartphone
It's important that your son is sitting still. The best way to do this is to put a smartphone or tablet in his hands that's playing his favorite shows.
You go first
The buzzing sound of clippers may be intimidating. Let him watch you get a cut and hear the sounds of the clippers so it's not scary when it's his turn.
Bring an extra outfit
If your kid doesn't want to wear the cape right away, no problem. Having a change of clothes will be nice so he doesn't have to walk around with hair down his back afterward.
Celebrate
Give him a treat or new toy once he's finished to celebrate that he's a big boy now.
