A couple of days ago, President Biden signed Juneteenth into law making the emancipation of slaves a national holiday. While it's no secret that we still have a long way to go in order to create effective and permanent change when it comes to race relations in our country, it's also important to recognize that we have full permission to celebrate this important moment in American history.
Eat the bbq.
Dance at the festivals.
Laugh with your neighbors.
(All in a safe, socially distanced manner, of course.)
Enjoy life today because, after all, Black joy is a revolution in and of itself.
